WHEN TO VISIT

New Zealand is a great destination at any season. However, it will depend on your taste which is the best one.

I personally would not choose summer time since it is the most popular one.

I visited the country in September of 2017, the beginning of spring, and it was gorgeous.

The weather is crispy but not too cold, perfect for hiking, the mountains still have some snow and the areas that are melting are allowing the rivers and waterfalls to be in their best moment.

Anyway, how I mentioned before, anytime is gonna be just right to visit a spectacular country.

WHAT TO KNOW

DSC_0165 (2).jpg

New Zealand is located  in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. It consists of two main landmasses, the North Island, the South Island and around 600 smaller islands.

Kiwis, how the inhabitants are called, are friendly and hospitable.

Language: New Zealand has three official languages: English*, Maori, and New Zealand Sign Language.

*Kiwi English.

Religion: The Maoríes and different European heritages have influenced the religion and culture of New Zealand. The country has a multicultural society with all sorts of religions: Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and Traditional Maori religion.

Currency: New Zealand Dollar.

The sheep's population is around 26 million, and 5 million of humans... you have more possibilities to run into a sheep than a human being.

Plugs: The plugs are type I.

Safety: One of the safest countries in the world.

There is a fee to enter the country.

Remember this is the south hemisphere and the seasons are the opposite of the northern hemisphere.

To get there you can fly either to the north or south island, depending on where you are coming from. However, most of international flights arrive into Auckland.

BUDGET Traveling NZ isn't cheap as southeast Asia but if you follow some instructions you are gonna be able to do it on a budget.

The more time, the better. New Zealand is not a huge country but the fact that there are two islands, that sometimes there are not many routes and that everything is wonderful, make you want to stay forever. We did an almost 1 month road trip.

MY BEST ADVICE: DO NOT RUSH THE SOUTH ISLAND. THIS WILD AND MAGICAL LAND SHOULD BE ENJOYED
