Budapest is one of the great destination of Eastern Europe, known as The Pearl of the Danube is formed by the union of two cities: Buda and Pest.
Buda -on the western bank of the Danube- is the historic Hungarian capital, today associated with the upper class neighborhoods.
Pest is where most of the population is concentrated.
In 1873 they joined under the name of Budapest and the city became the second largest in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, after Vienna.
