This is my first fall living in Connecticut and I am all in discovering and enjoying the environment and its activities.

I have still so much to know and I will keep updating, but at the moment, I will share here my recommendations on places and activities to do in Connecticut during this magical time of the year.

For more, you can follow up on my Instagram.

Fall time means cider time, and you should embrace it.

Tasting cider has a lot in common with tasting wine—some are dry, others sweet and others  taste like pumpkin!

There are several cider mills along the state, but I especially love Hogans Cider Mill.

They have been making Cider since 1912 and it is one of the few places that produce unpasteurized sweet apple cider and a variety of Hard Ciders that are also made on premise. In addition they offer cider donuts, among other handmade pastries and

pumpkins.

One of the activities that can give you the best cozy fall vibe is canoeing.

Choose either a lake or a river, prepare some snacks and let the water and the colorful trees to welcome you into the fall.

Our choice was Collinsville river on a quiet Sunday.

scenic drives

A Scenic drive is a designated route that travels through a natural and/or cultural beauty. However, fall is that spectacular that any road is gonna be worth it to drive through.

Get in your car, maybe with a pumpkin latte, and just drive.

Litchfield Hills. is one of my favorites areas.

Big E

The Big E is America's Premier Exposition and world's only multi-state fair, representing all six New England States, with entertainment, unique foods, drinks, crafts, etc.

It's celebrated every fall in Springfield, Massachussets - I know this is no Connecticut but it is very close and every single inhabitant in Connecticut has visited this fair!

Sadly this year it has been cancelled due to Covid-19 but some places have been offering some of their activities.

Last weekend we had the opportunity to taste some of the craft seasonal beers at The Log Cabin, Massachussets.

New England is very famous for its breweries and, as you would expect, every season they come out with flavored beers. One of the most famous ones is the pumpkin spice.

Fall at home

One of the things I love about the change of seasons is to redecorate the house!

Make your home cozy; put some pumpkins around, buy local and fresh cider donuts, make yourself a good cup of coffee and play some spooky movies.

Cider Donuts

Apple cider donut is one of the most popular fall traditional treats in New England.

Every early morning the bakers make fresh cider donuts and every end of the day all of them are gone.

There are plenty of places to find apple cider donuts in Connecticut, including the Hogans Cider Mill.

If you want to make the experience even better add a pumpkin spice latte. Pumpkin spice latte is the signature drink of fall and you can make it at home.  You will need milk, pumpkin puree, sugar, vanilla extract, pumpkin spice and coffee. Enjoy!

picnic

If you follow me on Instagram you will know how much I love picnics. Imaging having a picnic by the lake,  among the colored leaves and the crisp weather... ideal right?

Towns

Connecticut has many beautiful towns, and fall makes them especially beautiful.

Some of my favorites are Litchfield, Collinsville, Norfolk and Kent. Anyway, every town has beautiful spots, like Torrington where I live.

Farms

This state has plenty of farms to choose from, and fall is the most famous season to visit them and pick your own apples and pumpkins.

I might have found the most beautiful of them all. Strawberry Hollow Farm, named for the hollow in which the farm sits, and for the strawberries they once grew.

Nowadays they grow pumpkins and winter squash and the gift shop sells American crafts.

If you are looking for fantastic views of Connecticut landscape, this is the place to visit.

With all its fall vibrant colors, the castle is an observation tower in Meriden, that sits atop of the “hanging hills”.

local products

Buy local and seasonal products! You can find them everywhere but one of my favorite places is Lyman Orchards farm store. This store offers seasonal fruits from their own farm, handmade foods and pastries among other local products.
